Course Info

This course will be beneficial to all supervisory staff and the general workforce involved in carrying out work that may disturb the fabric of the building.  This may include:

• Maintenance workers and others who may come into contact with asbestos
• Those who may disturb asbestos
• Those involved in asbestos removal work and refurbishment when asbestos is present

Course Contents:

At the end of this course, delegates will have a good general understanding of:

• The various types of asbestos and nature and origin of asbestos.
• Properties and use of asbestos.
• Health hazards.
• Possible locations of asbestos in buildings.
• Current legislation and guidance.
• Legal limitations on work liable to disturb asbestos.
• Working safely
• Duty-holder’s – Who are they and what are their responsibilities?
• Safe working in areas where asbestos is present.
• Safe and correct use of RPE/PPE (personal protective equipment).
• Decontamination.
• Emergency procedures/accidental damage/general procedures.
• Self assessment test

 

Certification:

Successful candidates will be issued with a certificate of attendance entitled:

Half-Day Asbestos Awareness Course

Certificates will be valid for 1 year
