This course has been designed with the core aim of creating a confident person to take charge in an emergency and for those overseeing Fire Safety and requiring a good overall knowledge of legal requirements, procedures and best practice.  It will enable staff to manage a fire or other similar emergency efficiently and effectively to meet the legal requirements.

Course Contents

  • The legal requirements (The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005) in relation to fire safety issues.
  • Basic fire science including classification of fires, fire triangle and methods of fire spread.
  • Emergency evacuation procedures and human behaviour in the event of an emergency and how to control it.
  • Fire prevention measures available within the work environment including detection and warning systems
  • Identifying the types and uses of safety equipment available within the workplace.
  • How to safely and effectively use portable fire-fighting equipment in a passive classroom environment.
  • The dangers of tackling fires and the use of extinguishers and other associated equipment such as fire blankets
 

 

Certification

Successful candidates will be issued with a certificate of attendance entitled:
Workplace Fire Marshall
Certificates will be valid for 1 year
