First Aid at Work Requalification + Paediatric Element - Course Overview

The First Aid at Work Requalification course refreshes the same core topics covered in the initial three-day First Aid at Work qualification, in line with the Health & Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 (Appendix 5).

It allows existing workplace first aiders to renew their certification through two days of face-to-face training and assessment by providing a shorter option.

Alongside standard workplace first aid content, the training also includes elements relevant to school and childcare environments, supporting those who may need to respond to incidents involving children.

To remain recognised as a workplace first aider, requalification should be completed before the expiry date on the current certificate. If this date has passed, learners can still requalify by attending the two-day course. However, where a considerable period - i.e. in excess of one month - has elapsed since expiry, employers may choose the full three-day First Aid at Work + Paediatric course instead.

It is for the employer to decide the most appropriate route for requalification.

It suits staff working in schools, nurseries, colleges, and education environments, as well as workplaces where full First Aid at Work cover is required.

I completed a paediatric first aid course with Tom MacArthur a few weeks ago. Today my daughter was showing signs of meningitis with an extremely high temperature. I would like you to pass on my thanks to Tom for teaching me as well as he did because his voice was ringing in my ears telling what I should do, I remained calm and felt confident that I was able to manage the situation until the emergency services arrived. I have had first aid training in the past but none have been as effective, Tom is a real credit to your company. Please pass on my thanks to him, his training was invaluable to me today.

We would like to say a massive thank you to Dan Pedley. We are all in agreement that Dan Pedley's excellent training & fantastic lessons will not be forgotten. In fact, we are all in agreement that we did not want it to end. We have all learned more today than what has ever been taught before on previous first aid courses. So, thank you First Response First Aid, but more importantly thank you Dan Pedley for your supreme, first class training. Keep up the awesome work! August 2018

    Mark,

The course was very good – the course presenter (Dave) was easily the best I've encountered – really outstanding, great balance of humour and fact and anecdotes. All participants seemed very engaged throughout, so he worked his audience well.

The course yesterday was the best first aid & manual handling course I have attended in over 35 years and I think this was mainly down to the way it was put over by the tutor.

We had our basic paediatric first aid course in Stoke on Trent this morning, and I just wanted to say that Andy Jones who delivered our training was fantastic. It was my first course in a long long time and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and other members of staff commented saying it was the best first aid course they've ever attended in their 30+ years. Please send Andy when our certificates need to be renewed!!

Tom's approach is fantastic constantly keeping you alert and on the ball. The detail Tom goes into, constantly going back to subjects to remind us of certain important aspects of first aid. The practical exercises reminding us of what first aid to administer in the situation. Th whole content of the course and the way it was delivered was exceptional. Thank you for a fantastic training approach helping us to learn what we need to know in the best possible way :)
