Gareth’s background as a Projects Manager in electrical engineering gave him a solid grounding in the importance of high quality health & safety training, from First Aid to Asbestos Awareness. He is ideally placed to give advice to our client base on a variety of aspects.
Founder and co-owner of the company. On leaving the police force after 31 years of service, Bill established himself as a first aid and health & safety trainer before setting up First Response in 1999. Although Bill is no longer an active trainer, he is still involved in a consultancy role. The core principles he instilled in the business in the early days, providing high quality training at affordable prices, are still present today.
On his days off, there is nothing Bill enjoys more than clambering onto his Kawasaki Z1000SX for a few hours biking.
Chris’ role at First Response began when Bill started the company in 1999 and she undertook the invoicing. Now she is the owner of the company and her job is general administrative support officer and she is affectionately known in the office and to our customers as 'The Diary Queen.'
Before First Response, Chris was a secretary for a Commemorative Art Studio where she spent 12 very happy years with some amazing people.
In her spare time, she likes to go to a caravan in Skegness, walk her dog and most of all spend time with her wonderful family, children and grandchildren.
As the Accounts Manager, Kirsty’s role has evolved over the last 12 years at First Response. She started as a First Aid Trainer and is now completely office-based and no two days are ever the same! Before working with the company she was involved in another family business; her Dad’s catering company.
In her spare time Kirsty enjoys taking her two sporty sons to their cricket, running and football fixtures and she loves socialising with her family and friends; eating out, going to the theatre etc. When time permits she switches off in a good book.
Linda’s role is Credit Control Manager/Sales Ledger and she is responsible for the debt collection of all accounts and raising of sales invoices. She also helps with other admin tasks in the business as required.
Previously Linda worked for a number of companies in Credit Controller/Sales Ledger positions and her longest time was spent at Lucas Aftermarket.
Our Training & Quality Manager. In addition to being an active trainer himself, Lee manages our group of dedicated trainers. Also, as our qualified Internal Quality Assurer, he is responsible for maintaining the high quality of our courses.
In his spare time, he responds to ‘999’ calls on a voluntary basis as a Community First Responder for West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Prior to becoming a first aid trainer, Alex had an exciting and varied career, initially in the prison service before joining the Royal Army Medical Corp and rising to the rank of Warrant Officer. During this time Alex has completed qualifications in First Aid at Work, Advanced Life Support as well as a First Aid Instructor Course and appropriate teaching qualifications. Having worked on behalf of a number of organsations as a First Aid trainer, Alex is now a very valued member of the First Response First Aid Team.
In his spare time, Alex enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family
Laura is an experienced trainer/assessor in a variety of fields. In addition to course delivery, she has helped to write and develop several of our innovative training packages, and played an important role in a train-the-trainer capacity. Laura is also a Community First Responder and is the local authority representative on the governing body of a local primary school, with a key responsibility for the monitoring of health & safety.
A former paramedic for West Midlands Ambulance Service, Brian has vast experience dealing with incidents ranging from minor illnesses to life threatening situations. Brian has worked for First Response First Aid Ltd since 2000, and is a very experienced trainer who always receives excellent feedback from clients attending his courses.
He is a keen cricketer in the summer months, and is a follower of sports in general.
During a varied career taking on a number of different jobs, including running his own business, Mick has been an avid workplace first aider and trainer. Mick’s background as an event First Aider has also seen him deal with many challenging first aid incidents in a non-workplace environment. Mick has worked for First Response First Aid Ltd since 2003 and is now a very experienced First Aid Trainer & Assessor.
Mick has always had a keen interest in all aspects of photography.
As well as being an experienced first aid trainer & assessor for First Response, Dave is also a medic in the Territorial Army, and has completed a tour of duty in Iraq as part of this role. This has given him a different insight into first aid than from a typical workplace perspective. He also delivers some of our more specialist courses such as Anaphylaxis & Epipen training.
Dave has been an invaluable addition to the team in recent years.
A former Environmental Health Officer for a local authority, Keith is registered with the CIEH to deliver over thirty different courses across the health & safety spectrum. Keith has vast experience of teaching in each of his subject areas and is extremely knowledgeable. In fact, if we have a question we cannot answer in the office, we call Keith!
Dan's background of teaching First Aid began working with the Swimming Teachers’ Association (STA), the world’s largest independent swimming teaching and lifesaving organisation. He joined First Response in 2014 and delivers First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid, Defibrillator, Epi-pen and Manual Handling courses throughout the UK.
A highly experienced food hygiene trainer with extensive experience of delivering food hygiene and safety courses across a range of settings. In addition, Tesne is able to deliver a range of first aid, health and safety and manual handling courses.
Tom is a retired Police Inspector, having served for 30 years with Staffordshire and West Midlands Police. During this career, he was often the ‘first person on scene’ at incidents such as road traffic collisions and shootings. He has been delivering courses for twelve years with First Response.
A highly experienced and entertaining health and safety trainer with a passion for delivering an enjoyable informative training course. Steve delivers IOSH Managing Safely, Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Manual Handling, First Aid, bespoke training courses, refresher training and staff induction training.
