Mental Health First Aid - Youth (Half-Day)

Our half day course is an introductory three-hour session to raise awareness of young people’s mental health.

It is designed to give:

  • An understanding of some of the common mental health issues affecting young people, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders and psychosis
  • Skills to work more effectively with young people living with mental health issues
  • Ways to support young people with a mental health issue and relate to their experiences
  • A taste of the contents of the Youth MHFA Two Day course

Three-hour session

Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities.

The session covers:

  • Language and mental health issues
  • What is mental health?
  • Mental health conditions
    • Depression
    • Anxiety disorders
    • Psychosis
    • Self-harm
    • Eating disorders
    • Personality disorders
    • Alcohol, illegal drugs and mental health
  • Supporting young people in distress
  • Mental and emotional wellbeing

Everyone who completes the session gets a certificate to say they are Youth Mental Health Aware

The course is accredited by Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA)

The group price stated above is for the minimum of 10 candidates. Additional costs will apply for more candidates over 10.

The maximum is 25. This ensures the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn

Everyone who completes the course gets:

  • A manual to refer to whenever they need it
  • A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support their own mental health
