First Response First Aid (FRFA) Empowers 1,000 School Children to Learn Life-Saving CPR For Free

This training pledge has been made as part of the Give Back Project – an initiative by FRFA’s parent company, Impact Futures, to support and serve people and communities throughout the UK.

It also aptly marks Resuscitation UK’s annual Restart a Heart Day on Wednesday, October 16, 2024  – which raises awareness and helps more people to learn CPR with the aim to increase the number of cardiac arrest survivors per year.

The importance of early first aid instruction

FRFA, known for delivering renowned first aid training nationwide, is bringing its expertise to classrooms for the first time on this scale. This initiative will equip 1,000 pupils with essential CPR skills, ensuring they know how to respond in an emergency.

The children at the schools selected will acquire vital knowledge, such as CPR, how to get somebody into the recovery position, and much more – all taught in a simple, sensitive, and enjoyable way. Each child will also receive a certificate to confirm their attendance, and remember the day.

The effectiveness of early first aid training

At FRFA, we always say, ‘If you’re laughing, you’re learning’,” says FRFA’s Dan Pedley. “The earlier people learn these skills, the more they become second nature, and easily carried into their adult lives. It’s also really important to make it fun, because the more children enjoy the experience, the more likely they are to retain the information and understand the life-saving potential behind it.”

This pledge to train 1,000 children takes our community support commitment to a new level,” says FRFA’s Managing Director, Kelly-Marie Harris. “We’re so excited to empower these young students by teaching the kinds of critical skills that might help them save a life one day.”

The knowledge the children will learn as part of this initiative will not only add value to the Year 5/6 curriculum, but may also prove to be the difference between life and death for a fellow pupil, a teacher, or a family member in the future – creating a legacy of learning for years to come.
