Do you know where your last meal came from? Can you be sure it was properly handled at every stage of the manufacturing, delivery and serving process?
7th April is World Health Day and this year the theme is Food Safety. This gives us the perfect opportunity to show our support by doing our bit to promote food safety amongst you – our website visitors and clients.
Did you know that over 200 diseases are caused by harmful bacteria and parasites in food?
If your work involves the handling, cooking or preparation of food you will need to have the correct food safety and hygiene qualifications to ensure you are doing your job correctly. As an employer in the catering or retail environment it is your responsibility to ensure that your staff have the correct food safety training so that they understand the risks involved with food preparation and can deliver safe and high quality food to consumers.
World Health Day aims to highlight the importance of food safety throughout the food chain and this is where those who are involved in the manufacturing, handing and preparation of food can play a big part. If everyone in that chain is properly qualified and knows the correct ways to store and handle food, there shouldn’t be an issue with harmful bacteria or viruses.
At First Response First Aid we offer a range of food safety courses from CIEH Level 1 Food Safety, which is suitable for those with no prior food safety knowledge, to CIEH Level 3 Food Safety, which provides candidates with a thorough understanding of food safety procedures and is particularly suitable for those who will be supervising others within a food safety management system.
The safety of our food depends on the skills and knowledge of everyone in the food chain so let’s do our bit to ensure everyone has safe food on World Health Day and every day from now on.
Show your support by tweeting with the hashtag #safefood and don’t forget to contact our team if you need more information on food safety training courses.
