Basic Paediatric First Aid - Course Overview
This course provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to respond to emergencies involving babies and young children. It is designed as an introduction to paediatric first aid, helping build confidence in managing incidents safely until professional help arrives.
Training is delivered in a clear and supportive learning environment, covering key first aid topics relevant to early years and school settings. Learners develop the ability to recognise emergencies, provide immediate care, and support children effectively in critical situations.
Who Is This Course For?
Ideal for anyone new to first aid, the training is particularly suited to ancillary staff working in nursery and primary school environments - including dinner ladies, playground supervisors, and support staff. Learners gain the skills needed to manage initial paediatric emergencies and support existing first aid provision.
The training also offers a pathway for progression, with many learners advancing on to Emergency Paediatric First Aid or the in-depth 12-hour Paediatric First Aid course. This course helps build confidence and capability, enabling participants to respond calmly and effectively in a child’s time of need.
