Emergency First Aid At Work - Course Overview
The Emergency First Aid at Work course provides learners with the essential skills and confidence needed to respond to workplace emergencies quickly and effectively.
Designed for lower-risk working environments and smaller workplaces, this 1-day qualification helps businesses meet workplace first aid requirements while ensuring staff are prepared to take action in emergency situations.
The course covers key life-saving first aid skills, including CPR, use of an AED, choking, bleeding, and dealing with unconscious casualties, giving learners practical knowledge they can apply with confidence.

Delivered in accordance with Appendix 6 of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, the Emergency First Aid at Work course provides learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to respond to workplace emergencies confidently and effectively.
Throughout the course, learners will cover a range of core first aid topics, including:
- Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
- Cross infection and infection control
- Recording incidents and actions taken
- Correct use of available first aid equipment
- Assessing an emergency situation
- Caring for unconscious casualties, including seizures
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Choking emergencies
- Wounds and bleeding
- Shock
- Minor injuries, including cuts, grazes, bruises, burns, scalds and splinters
By the end of the course, learners will feel confident providing immediate first aid support in a range of workplace emergency situations until further medical assistance arrives.
Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate, valid for three years.
This qualification confirms that the learner has completed recognised workplace first aid training and can act as an emergency first aider within their organisation.
