Paediatric First Aid Blended (EYFS/OFSTED) - Course Overview

This blended Paediatric First Aid qualification combines online learning with face-to-face training and is designed for individuals working in childcare or early years settings. The course meets the paediatric first aid requirements set out in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which applies to staff working in Ofsted-registered childcare environments.

This qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, illnesses, injuries and emergencies which can arise when looking after children.

Who Is This Course For?

This course is suitable for anyone working in a childcare or early years setting who needs to obtain the full Paediatric First Aid qualification while benefiting from a more flexible learning format.

It works well for nursery staff, childminders, preschool workers, teaching assistants, and other early years practitioners who need to meet EYFS first aid requirements but want the flexibility of doing some of the learning online before the in-person training day.

Blended Course Structure:

The blended Paediatric First Aid course is completed in two stages, which must be undertaken in the order outlined below.

Online Training: The first stage involves completing an interactive eLearning course. Access details are usually sent approximately 14 days before the face-to-face training, although access can be provided earlier if required.

The online training can be completed at the learner’s own pace and may be split across multiple sittings, as progress is saved throughout. The eLearning is designed to take around six hours, although this may vary depending on previous IT and subject knowledge.

Face-to-Face Training: The second stage is a one-day in person classroom session, where candidates will learn, demonstrate and be assessed on all of the practical sections of the course. This is the session that will provide you with practical skills to support your new theoretical knowledge.

Usually when I go on a course like this one a trainer is rarely able to keep my attention because he/she talk and I listen (well try to), HOWEVER, Tom was outstanding as he kept me on my toes and I actually am confident in remembering my first aid better. Thank you!

We would like to say a massive thank you to Dan Pedley. We are all in agreement that Dan Pedley's excellent training & fantastic lessons will not be forgotten. In fact, we are all in agreement that we did not want it to end. We have all learned more today than what has ever been taught before on previous first aid courses. So, thank you First Response First Aid, but more importantly thank you Dan Pedley for your supreme, first class training. Keep up the awesome work! August 2018

    Nichola Stocks,

Completed a 2 day Paediatric First Aid course today. Glenn was a brilliant trainer and despite the serious nature of the course we still had the odd giggle. I now feel confident enough to deal with an emergency situation however I hope I never have to use my newly learnt skills! Thank you Glenn (and of course Bob)

On behalf of my clients Greg, Chris and Martin and myself I would like to say a big thank you to Mike for delivering an excellent course today. With a lot of passion, enthusiasm, and humour together with practical and helpful hands-on interaction, the whole group became involved in a very enjoyable training day. As it was 10 yrs since I did my last first aid course, I learnt a lot and appreciate being brought up to date with the various changes and new topics not previously covered. Well done!

I am writing to you following the Blended PFA course I completed today, 1/10/22, in Bedworth with Paul. I would just like to say he is an absolute credit to your team, and I wanted to send my thanks and appreciation for how kind, caring and thoughtful he was throughout the course. I was very anxious on the day about attending due to leaving my 5-month-old son, who I breastfeed, but Paul made me feel so relaxed; he wanted to ensure my son's needs were considered and put first, and he was willing to adapt to my sons routine, and he made me feel so calm about leaving my boy for the first time. He delivered the course with such enthusiasm and animation, and he was just an all-around friendly, genuine guy who I hope realises how valued he is! I will remember more from this course than any previous FA course I've ever attended. Thank you, Paul ???? We need more people like you in this world. Leanne

    Andy McLean,

Excellent three day first aid at work course Lead by Brian Denning. He's an ex paramedic who's served years on the Staffordshire ambulance teams so there's not much he hasn't seen or dealt with. The course was well balanced between practical tasks, videos, slideshows and conversation included plenty of anicdotes and stories of bryan dealing with actual emergencies as a PM. A very enjoyable course with the learning well paced for all. Absolutely first class and I have no reservation whatsoever in giving this company my strongest recommendation.
