First Aid at Work Requalification + Paediatric Element - Course Overview

This First Aid at Work Requalification syllabus covers the same topics as those in the initial First Aid at Work course. However, the training and assessment face-to-face contact is only 2 days. This course complies with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) regulations 1981 (Appendix 5 Content of a first aid at work (FAW) course).

In addition to the subjects covered on a standard First Aid at Work Requalification course, it also includes training relevant to a school environment

Notes regarding requalification

The FAW requalification course lasts two days and should cover the same content as the initial FAW course (Appendix 5). If the first-aider does not retrain or requalify before the expiry date on their current certificate they are no longer considered competent to act as a first-aider in the workplace. They can requalify at any time after the expiry date by undertaking the two-day requalification course. However, it may be prudent to complete the three-day FAW course, especially where a considerable period – i.e. in excess of one month – has elapsed since the FAW certificate expired. It is for the employer to decide the most appropriate training course to requalify the first-aider.

I have just completed the First Aid at Work Requalification course. This is my ninth renewal but I have always faced it with a feeling of dread, however, 3 years ago I was introduced to First Response First Aid. I was so impressed with the standard of presentation and delivery, my employers now use your service for the retraining of all our First Aiders...and I admit to enjoying my latest course! Thank you

Style of delivery was great, made a difficult subject simple and a "can do approach". When I say simple, I meant it was broken down into common sense - which is what it should be.

I am writing to you following the Blended PFA course I completed today, 1/10/22, in Bedworth with Paul. I would just like to say he is an absolute credit to your team, and I wanted to send my thanks and appreciation for how kind, caring and thoughtful he was throughout the course. I was very anxious on the day about attending due to leaving my 5-month-old son, who I breastfeed, but Paul made me feel so relaxed; he wanted to ensure my son's needs were considered and put first, and he was willing to adapt to my sons routine, and he made me feel so calm about leaving my boy for the first time. He delivered the course with such enthusiasm and animation, and he was just an all-around friendly, genuine guy who I hope realises how valued he is! I will remember more from this course than any previous FA course I've ever attended. Thank you, Paul ???? We need more people like you in this world. Leanne

“I want to say a big THANK YOU. Your first aid course saved my grandson's life today, he choked badly and I managed to dislodge the bread from his mouth, after about 12 back slaps. Your courses save lives. I will never moan about doing a first aid course again! THANK YOU!”

Please can you pass on some feedback from today's trainers? Vic & Laura.. we had them do basic life support at Box Tree… what a team they are. They were spot on, really simple, informative training. We had a good laugh, and some really good techniques were shown. They were very professional and helped those who needed it. Many thanks, Steph

    Dave,

Well what to say..... Thanks to First Response my training detected a broken wrist my 5 year old daughter had today. The injury happened at school all the teachers/first aiders failed to spot it. The injury happened 3 hours before I collected her no response from anyone at school but I did what I was taught by Brian and spotted the signs did a sweep only took 10 seconds. Poor girl was at school for 3 hrs with a fracture. 10 seconds with me and my training had her in A&E 20 minutes later. Cast on... Thank you for teaching me guys.
