Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Course Summary:
This course provides those who are successful with the necessary knowledge and skills to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during a cardiac arrest event. The course follows the latest Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines.
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a safe, automatic device that shocks a cardiac arrest victim. With an AED machine, the chance of survival can be as high as 74%, instead of 6% if you wait for an ambulance.
Who should attend?
Any individual who needs or wishes to gain the valuable knowledge to deliver Automated External Defibrillation in the event of a cardiac arrest.
- Approach a casualty safely
- Assess a collapsed casualty
- Correctly apply effective chest compressions to a casualty
- Administer effective rescue breaths to a casualty
- Turn on the AED and attach the electrodes correctly
- Assess cardiac rhythm by the AED
- Perform defibrillation safely
- Place casualty in the recovery position
Successful candidates shall be awarded the “Automated External Defibrillation” certificate that is valid for 3 years.
This course is accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB)
