Our Save a Life Campaign is up and running
Firstly, as promised in the last newsletter we are donating an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to Wyrley Juniors. Wyrley Juniors are an established football club with strong links to the local community. They have around 50 teams for boys, girls, and adults and annually host one of the largest tournaments in the country. Their clubhouse is also available to hire for evening functions, so they have a steady flow of people of all ages through their doors. In our opinion, they are an extremely worthwhile recipient of our donated defibrillator.
In addition to donating the defibrillator and free training to Wyrley Juniors, we are also proud to be able to provide free defibrillator training to the Streetly Community Association. The Streetly Community Association already own a defibrillator but now need to train the relevant people to be able to use the machine. We're therefore providing them with two free courses on 17th and 23rd July 2014 which will train 20 people with this life saving skill.
We need your feedback! As previously mentioned, as part of our ‘Save a Life’ campaign, we shall be running free bite-sized first aid courses this summer. The idea is to run them initially in the areas in which we currently run our open first aid courses which include Walsall, Loughborough, and Leicester. We anticipate high demand for these courses, and will look to expand to other locations.
The courses will last two hours and will include the following:
- How to manage a first aid incident
- Dealing with an unconscious casualty/recovery position
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (adults, children and babies)
- Recognition and treatment of choking
- Recognition and treatment of seizures
- Question and answer session
This will be a great opportunity for you to learn and practice new skills, or brush up on your existing knowledge.
If this is something which interests you, we need to hear from you as soon as possible. We would like to know WHERE and WHEN you want these courses.
Would you prefer day time, evening or weekend courses?
Do you have a venue we could use? Get in touch! It’s a great way to advertise your venue to your local community.
